Mariette Thompson
Office Manager

Mariette Thompson was born in Ontario, Canada. Her family moved to the United States in 1958. Mariette is fluent in French. She attended St. Petersburg College and Eckerd College. Prior to moving to Pinellas County, Mariette attended the Orlando Police Academy in Orlando, Florida and worked for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department and the Cocoa Police Department. During her tenure with the Sheriff’s Department she was a Special Agent which included duties on the S.W.A.T. Team. She specialized in Crimes against Children, Child Abuse, Kidnapping, Rape and worked directly with the FBI on many cases. She worked as an undercover agent to fight against drugs and prostitution often posing as a decoy. As a police officer, Mariette also performed all regular police patrol duties and for a time was a training officer.

Mariette and John have four children: John G. Thompson Jr., Chantell T. Muller, John F. Hummel and Blake W. Thompson. In 1986 John and Mariette moved to John’s native town of Tarpon Springs and in 1991 opened JOHN G. THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, P.A. The idea for a family law office became very apparent, as there were so many large law firms that a family operated law firm would not be as intimidating to the average person because treating clients like family, as so many of the firms clients have become over the years, seemed like the proper thing to do. The goal then, as it is today, is to have a lawyer personally available to clients. With over 30 years of experience in Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation cases this has been invaluable at John G. Thompson & Associates, P.A.

Mariette handles the financial and management end of John G. Thompson & Associates, P.A., along with the day to day business operation. Although Mariette is still involved in all major financial and business decisions, Christina in now handling the day to day management operation. Mariette is a firm believer that when one owns a business the owners must be personally involved to assure that all clients received the best attention and care intended.
